The Ugly Sweaters is the musical musing of Mandla Gobledale, front-man of the energetic and sun kissed Los Angeles quartet.
Unsigned, the band has relied solely on their live sound and debut EP, the “L.A. L.A. EP”, to book and promote shows across Los Angeles.
Gobledale is the song writer of the quartet. The child of a missionary couple, he grew up in rural South Africa and Zimbabwe, and attended high school in Melbourne, Australia. His global back ground contributes extensively to the sound of the band as well as the songs lyrical content.
Grounded in the water tight rhythm section of Clay Taylor and Alex Pfender, and expanded by vocalist/keyboardist Claire Pauly, The Ugly Sweaters fashion a sound that is soaked in So-Cal sunshine and blissful pop-rock energy creating indulgent harmonies, frenetic performances and chaotic sing alongs.
